Pick any available work that inspires you, and rent it for a 6 month period, or more!
For a long time now, I’ve wanted to find a way to get more of my original artwork into people’s homes and workspaces. Actually living with the work on a daily basis can inspire and sometimes even transform people’s lives.
I see many come to my shows and become visibly moved, either to tears or joy, by how the work speaks to them. Some buy postcards as a keepsake of their experience, but this doesn’t compare to living with a handmade, three-dimensional sculpture.
Regrettably, most who respond strongly to scenes in my artwork consider purchasing a sculpture beyond their budget. And as an artist, I’m not alone in this.
Most fine artwork produced today – except for the works of a few celebrity artists – goes unsold and never enters into the spaces of those most inspired by it. I see that the traditional way of only offering art for direct sale isn’t working – either for my own practice or for the art world in general.
Then it came to me: “Why not offer a rental program, and give people a chance to enjoy the artwork at home or work, where they can share it with friends, at a price they could afford?” It seemed like such an obvious solution, I was surprised I hadn’t thought of it before!
Now if you live in San Diego, Santa Cruz, Monterey, or the Bay Area, you can now live with an original, Brad Burkhart sculpture of your choice, professionally hung in your home or workspace, for the amount it costs to get Netflix.
Here’s How it Works
Start by filling out your Sculpture Rental Request, here:
I’ll review your request and, once it’s approved, reach out to discuss installation with you, go over the contract, arrange payment, and schedule delivery.
Once we agree upon a suitable location to hang the sculpture you’ve chosen to rent, I will personally deliver and safely hang the work in your space.
At the end of your rental period, you can choose to extend your rental for another 3 months, rent a different sculpture, or conclude your rental program.
If you decide you want to buy the piece, then you can apply all your previous rental fees and the deposit towards your purchase.
Your initial payment of only $138 covers the first 6 months of your rental period, a $15 non-refundable administrative fee, and a $45 deposit that will be returned to you at the end of your rental program.
After the first 6 months, it’s only $13 per month to continue renting, with a minimum extension period of 3 months. Similar costs apply for renting multiple sculptures and hanging new sculptures.
You will also be entitled, at any point during your rental period or within the year after it ends, to buy the sculpture for the list price at the time of rental, with your rental and deposit dollars applied to the purchase.
