Two Volcanoes

Ammah Bearing

Two Volcanoes

on a night of red earth
the eagle scans the mountain
the wild boar scents the flower of battle
la llorona cobs a river of blood
two lovers search for each other

on their quetzal feather mat
they embrace
sprout moon lava
cry stone smoke
day is born

Dos Volcanes

en una noche de tierra roja
el águila otea el monte
el jabalí husmea la flor de la batalla
la llorona se peina un río de sangre
do amantes se buscan

en su petate de plumas de quetzal
se abrazan
brotan lava de luna
lloran humo de piedra
el dia nace
